Sectional Overhead Doors

Sectional Overhead Doors have become a popular alternative to the conventional Roller Shutter Door for a number of reasons, the most prominent being Insulation.

The panels are formed from an aluminium or steel skin, surrounding an insulated core, usually about 40mm thick x 500 to 600mm deep. The insulation protects both against noise pollution and heat loss, making it a great favourite with our current Building Regulations.

Unlike the Roller Shutter, the door curtain is not stored on a drum when the door is open but on the track or guide system, either vertically above the door opening or at 90° to the door, parallel with the ceiling/roof. A counter balance spring system is usually employed, similar to a roller shutter and doors can be operated both manually, by hand chain or powered with a motor/geared unit.

This type of door was one of the first fitted with a “Safety Edge System” which will automatically stop the decent of the door if it comes into contact with an obstruction and return the door to the “open” position. This system has been adopted to other designs of door systems. “Vision Panels” and “Wicket Doors” can be more easily installed to this type of door.

It is claimed to offer superior resistance to weather conditions to weather conditions and be more cosmetically attractive. Finishes include Natural – Aluminium or Galvanised Steel. Coloured Plastisol Coated Steel or Powder Coating in a wide range of colours.
